The ab initio way

The Shrödinger equation is really is the basic, fundamental equation to describe quantum physics. This way quantum physics is indeed a ab initio model to describe materials behaviour. This logic also applies to the classical mechanics and thus Newton’s laws.

Classical electromagnetism describes the interaction between electrically charged particles. These are basic laws/principles which are also fundamental. Therefore I would say that this is also an ab initio model.
