Both quantum physics and classical mechanics are ab-initio because they are what we need to describe nature in their corresponding realms. Although quantum physics in a truer sense is the ab-initio model for classical regime as well. Classical electromagnetism is also ab-inito model with maxwell’s equations as its first principles.
