Ab initio model

We call quantum physics an ab initio model because quantum physics is basic mathematical model for all solid state physics, that can be used to describe the movement at small scale and the property of material.
Classical mechanics is also an ab initio model, cause classical mechanics is original to explain all motion under large scale.
In my thought, classical electromagnetism is not an ab initio model.
