We call quantum physics an ab initio model as all quantum physical phenomena are governed by the very initial basic profound Schrödinger equation. Similarly, all classical mechanics phenomena rely on Newton laws and consequent derivations. Because of their dependency on such basic common laws we call them ab initio. On a similar note, all classical electromagnetic phenomena are governed by the very basic Maxwell equations rendering classical electromagnetism an ab initio model.
