In quantum physics (QPh) material properties can be predicted, at least in principle, by solving the Schroedinger equation without any input from the experiment. That is why QPh is an ab inition model. In the same way classical mechanics is an ab initio model, since, classical trajectories of moving objects can be described presiseily by solving the Newton’s equations. Classical electrodynamics is an ab initio model too, its first principles are known as Maxwell equations.
